Rumors surfaced during the Halo World Championship in Seattle for the year 2024 that the game will receive a third-person perspective mode next month.
Additionally, it has been revealed that an update will be released in November, giving players the ability to play in a shoulder-view perspective for the first time in the Halo series.
It is worth noting that the third-person perspective will be a standalone mode according to the game’s Community Director John Junyszek, meaning that players will not be able to switch between first-person and third-person perspectives directly but will be determined from the start.
Junyszek added that it “will be a fun way to play as players will have a new look at the battlefield with a view of your Spartan, and the developers are very excited for this new perspective to reach players later this year.”
On the other hand, Colin Cove, Senior Software Engineer at Skybox Labs, stated that “the team has put in a lot of effort to work on aiming to ensure accuracy.”
He added, “The camera position has changed drastically. Previously, the camera was usually on the character’s head and the view was the same as aiming. Now, the camera is behind the player and they must pay attention to two types of controls at the same time, which requires a lot of effort to achieve.”
