Official Announcement: 343 Industries officially changes name to Halo Studios

There are significant changes coming to Halo and its developer, 343 Industries, the studio responsible for the series. It was announced today that the studio will be renamed Halo Studios going forward, as they prepare for the future.

Studio Head, Pierre Hintze, says:

“If you were to divide Halo into two very distinct chapters.” “Chapter 1 – Bungie. Chapter 2 – 343 Industries. And now, I believe we have an audience hungry for more. So we will not only try to improve development efficiency, but we will try to change the recipe for how Halo games are made. So, we will start a new chapter today.”

So what exactly necessitates the rebranding of the studio, besides just a different name? Well, in line with the aforementioned goal of Halo Studios to reset how content is developed, reports claim that the studio will abandon its proprietary Slipspace Engine, on which Halo Infinite was developed. Instead, all future games will be developed on Unreal Engine 5.

Halo Studios has spent the past two years working on Project Foundry, an expansive technological showcase that will serve as the foundation for the future of Halo on Unreal Engine 5, while also currently working on several new Halo games.
