Star Wars Outlaws is undeniably a fantastic game, as it encompassed many features that set it apart as an open-world game and portrayed the Star Wars universe in a unique way, making it one of the best in the series’ gaming history. However, it seems that this was not enough to attract players upon release, as since its launch, there have been reports that the game is not selling as expected by the company, leading to a significant drop in Ubisoft’s stock levels that have not been seen in a long time! The reason for the poor sales could be attributed to the timing of the game’s release or even the unpolished state in which the game was released, suffering from some technical issues with performance not befitting of a AAA game that sells for $70. As a result, the French company made several statements yesterday with modifications to the game’s sales policy.
In this regard, an official from the company stated: “Despite the game achieving a great average rating on Metacritic (which is 76), and high user ratings on first-party devices and the Epic store, reflecting an authentic experience in the Star Wars universe,” and continued, “The initial sales of Star Wars Outlaws were below our expectations.”
The company also promised that they will not abandon their game and will release updates continuously to fix and refine the game technically. Additionally, the company announced that the game will be released on the Steam platform on November 21, reaffirming that they will return to releasing their games on the Steam platform from day one after almost a whole generation of absence. On the same day, the first expansion of the game, named Wild Card, will also be released with some free content such as missions and more.
