Throughout the PlayStation 3 era, Sony chose to redevelop almost every game from the God of War series for that era. Games like God of War, God of War II, Chains of Olympus, and Ghost of Sparta all received remastered versions as part of different packages and brought to the PS3. However, in the PlayStation 4 generation, Sony only released a remastered version of God of War III for the PS4. Now, it seems that PlayStation may be reviving old God of War games once again.
There is a new rumor indicating that PlayStation may be preparing to release a remastered collection of some of the old installments in the God of War series for modern platforms.
As reported by Need4Games, an insider named “Lunatic Ignus” mentioned on Discord that several remastered versions of God of War games are in development. It is said that this remaster will include all games from the Greek era of the series, including the first three main installments: Chains of Olympus, Ghost of Sparta, and Ascension. The project is reportedly being developed primarily by the developer Nixxes and will be announced in March 2025, marking the series’ 20th anniversary.
We had previously learned that Santa Monica Studio is working on multiple unannounced projects.
