According to a new rumor, Sony has already started showcasing the PS6 to various partners, or at least a prototype of the next-generation platform, as reported by the Russian journalist Anton Logvinov on his personal Telegram account. The journalist does not reveal many prominent details, but hints that this platform was showcased at the Tokyo Game Show, where Sony was present last month.
Logvinov specifically claims that Sony’s return to the Tokyo Game Show after an absence was accompanied by the presentation of the PlayStation 6 – or at least an early model of it – to selected partners. This led to a larger attendance at the exhibition than usual.
The rumors do not mention whether PS6 games were showcased on the prototype or if Sony was outlining its plans for the interested development partners.
As for when Sony might attempt to launch the PS6, we do not know for certain. All we have regarding the possible release date of the PS6 is some leaked Microsoft documents, which claim that the new platform will be released in 2028 alongside a new Xbox device. However, these documents are two years old, so it is unclear if this date is accurate. Some are speculating that Microsoft and Sony may accelerate the next-gen launch to 2026 or 2027.
We have also learned that the “limited frame” PS5 Pro games will run at 60 frames on the PS6.
