Nvidia’s new RTX 5090 processor will feature 32GB of memory, but comes with high power requirements.

Recently, rumors have surfaced that Nvidia will start releasing a new graphics processor with 32GB of GDDR7 memory. These leaks came from user Kopite7kimi, who shared specifications for the RTX 5080/5090 processors and added that these processors will require more power than the company expects for next-gen processors.

According to a post by user kopite7kimi, the new processor is supposed to consume 600 watts of power. However, as VideoCardz explained, it is unclear whether this is the overall power consumption of the processor’s circuit board or just the chip itself. In any case, the RTX 5090 will consume more power than its predecessor, the RTX 4090, by 150 watts, but with 32GB of GDDR7 memory, a 512-bit interface, and 21760 CUDA cores.

On the other hand, the RTX 5080 processor is expected to consume 400 watts compared to 320 watts in its predecessor, the RTX 4080. This processor will also be released with 16GB of GDDR7 memory, a 256-bit interface, and 10752 CUDA cores.

Kopite7kimi has previously leaked reliable specifications for Nvidia devices. He leaked the specifications for the RTX 3090 and RTX 3080 before their release, along with release dates for the RTX 4070 and RTX 4080 processors. He was also one of the first to mention the return of the 4080 processor with 12GB of memory under the name RTX 4070 Ti.

Despite the leaks about Nvidia’s 50 series graphics processors, the release date in stores is not clear yet. One source stated that we may hear more about the series at the Consumer Technology Conference scheduled for early 2025.
