4J Studios, the developers behind the home console version of the popular game Minecraft, have announced their new game Reforj. Reforj is an open-world Sandbox game that promises a rich and exciting gaming experience.
The team has revealed the gameplay in the alpha stage, giving players a glimpse into the virtual world and what they can expect. 4J Studios is known for their contribution to the development of the home console version of Minecraft, where they assisted Mojang. In an official statement, the development team said:
“In Reforj, players will explore, build, and survive while creating settlements in hostile conditions, uncovering secrets of a lost civilization that spans across multiple worlds.”
According to the studio, the game worlds will be procedurally generated, including “strange creatures and new exotic elements.” Players will also be able to carve blocks into different shapes, including curves, using tools available in the game. Finally, there will also be “constantly changing environments” while playing.
Procedural generation in game development is a technique used to automatically create game content like environments, elements, or characters using algorithms instead of designing them manually. This applies to games like No Man’s Sky and Minecraft.
Reforj is being developed using the studio’s Elements Engine, and there is currently no specific release date. However, Reforj will be available for PC through Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation upon release, with opportunities for future playtesting.
