Closing the Silent Hill 2 page on Wikipedia

Wikipedia was forced to close the Silent Hill 2 Remake page after repeated sabotage by some who refuse to accept the new version of the popular horror game from Konami, which was released earlier this week and was well received by critics.

These angry individuals began a vicious attack, editing the game’s ratings received, for example, Eurogamer gave it a 5 out of 5 rating but they edited it to 0. They also manipulated Metacritic and Open Critic ratings by falsifying the average rating to 27/100 for the PS5 version, while the actual average was 87 out of 100.

It is unclear what motivated these edits, but some believe that these individuals were not satisfied with the changes made to the facial features and clothing of the characters. Some say that the dissatisfaction of some fans was due to the Bloober team taking over the development of the remake.

Although it is still early and the only people who have the game so far are those who bought the deluxe edition that comes with early access – which may naturally lead to a positive bias – Silent Hill 2 Remake also received an “overwhelming positive” user rating on Steam.

In any case, Wikipedia officials have now been able to correct those edits and restore the ratings to their original state.

It is worth mentioning that we previously gave Silent Hill 2 an excellent game rating:

Tension, horror, and excitement, Silent Hill 2 returns as if it had never been absent all those years, with a story that still retains its charm, enjoyable puzzles, improved gameplay mechanics, and a more vibrant and terrifying world that only lacks greater variety in enemies and boss battles.
