In 2017, the first part of the Horizon series was released under the title Zero Dawn, which marked the beginning of Aloy’s journey that extended to the Forbidden West in the second part titled Forbidden West. After many rumors, we finally saw the official reveal of the enhanced version of the first part in a State of Play episode hosted by PlayStation today.
The Nixxes team developed an enhanced version of Horizon Zero Dawn for PlayStation 5 and PC, which will offer technical and visual enhancements, along with more features. It also includes the game expansion named Frozen Wilds, offering over 10 hours of re-recorded dialogues and Motion Capture, with graphical improvements that will make Zero Dawn on par with the graphic power found in Forbidden West. The game will provide 4k resolution with faster travel between game regions, as well as graphical enhancements to make the characters visually similar to the designs in the second part.
One of the enhancements provided by this version of Horizon Zero Dawn is the audio experience, as it has been developed with 3D Audio support, along with hundreds of improvements in the sound design during cinematic scenes or gameplay.
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered will leverage the power of the Playstation 5, with support for Dualsense controller features such as Haptic Feedback and Adaptive Triggers, making the player more immersed in combat, stealth, and exploration. There is also a new optional feature that uses sound and Haptic Feedback to alert the player about interactable elements, resources, and items that can be collected.
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered will fully support PlayStation 5 Pro, with a range of visual enhancements to utilize the power of the device. As for the PC version, Trophies system will now be available to players, with support for Ultra Wide screens and new technologies like DLSS 3 and FSR 3.1 for frame generation, but unfortunately, it will require logging in through a PSN account.
Regarding accessibility settings, much of what was offered in Forbidden West will return in this version, allowing all players to enjoy the game, in addition to the ability for players to transfer their saves from the old version to the new one.
For owners of the game on PlayStation 4/5 and PC, the game will offer an upgrade option to the enhanced version for $9.99. For new players, you can purchase the game for $49.99 through PlayStation Store, Steam, and Epic Game Store.
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered will be available on PlayStation 5 and PC on October 31, 2024, and pre-orders can be made starting from October 3, 2024.
