We have just learned that all upcoming Halo games will be developed using Unreal Engine 5, and according to experts, this transition will help turn Halo into a cross-platform series, making it easier to move to a completely new platform, specifically the PS5.
Richard Leadbetter, head of Digital Foundry, spoke to Eurogamer, stating that the switch from Slipspace engine to Unreal 5 will facilitate the development of the series for multiple platforms compared to the engine designed for Xbox platforms, though it’s not confirmed if this step is currently in preparation or not.
Microsoft has recently focused its efforts on bringing a range of its games to PS5, including Sea of Thieves and Grounded. Although rumors suggest that all Xbox exclusives will be coming to multiple devices including PS5, there hasn’t been an official announcement regarding any part of the Halo series for Sony’s home console.
